What goes into every bar, and what never does

Our free-from promise, in plain terms.

At Botanic Bath, we believe a bar of soap is only as good as what goes into it, and just as importantly, what we choose to leave out. A short list of botanical ingredients, chosen with purpose, and nothing added for show. That is the quiet luxury at the heart of everything we make.

Here, in plain terms, is what goes into every bar, and what never does.

Our promise

Nothing to hide

Never in

  • Harsh surfactants and fillers
  • Exaggerated claims

What is always in

Cold-pressed botanical oils

Every bar begins with botanical oils that are pressed rather than chemically extracted, so they keep more of their natural character. They are the foundation of a soft, nourishing lather, and the reason our soap feels considered rather than stripping.

Natural glycerin

We make soap the traditional way, through slow saponification. It takes longer, but it keeps the natural glycerin in the bar instead of removing it to sell on. Glycerin is a humectant, which simply means it helps your skin hold on to moisture as you cleanse.

Plant-derived, vegan recipes

Our formulations are built entirely from plant-derived ingredients. No animal fats, no animal by-products, and never any animal testing. Beauty that respects all life is not a slogan for us; it is the brief every recipe has to meet.

Simple, skin-focused formulation

Each bar is dermatologist-tested and kept deliberately simple, so it suits even the most sensitive and reactive skin. Fewer ingredients, clearer purpose, and less for skin to react to.

What is never in

Sulphates (SLS and SLES)

Harsh sulphates create a big, fast foam, but they can strip the skin's natural barrier along the way. We leave them out and let the botanical oils do the cleansing, gently.

Parabens and synthetic preservatives

A solid soap bar does not need the synthetic preservatives that a watery formula relies on. We use natural methods of preservation instead, for cleaner skincare you can feel confident about.

Harsh surfactants and fillers

Nothing is added to bulk out a bar or cut a corner. If an ingredient is not there for your skin, it is not in the recipe.

Exaggerated claims

This one is not an ingredient, but it matters just as much. We formulate for real skin needs with a clear purpose, and we describe our products honestly. No miracles, no noise, only considered care.

Why a short list is the harder one

A short, honest list is more difficult to make than a long one. It means sourcing better, making more slowly, and trusting good ingredients to speak for themselves. We think that is exactly what everyday care should be: simple, gentle, and worthy of your confidence.
